Aquaman 9 :: The Others III

While Aquaman and Ya'Wara go to the aid of their fellow Others, and to stop Black Manta from eliminating them, Mera is left with Dr. Stephen Shin, and she is looking for answers.

Shin is reluctant to help at first, but it doesn't take much for Mera to force him to collaborate.  Some things are better left unsaid, though. The truth is ugly most often than not.

Who is the Mystery Woman?

Just a few weeks ago, the revelation that Kendra Saunders will be the Hawkgirl from Earth-2 seemed to cloud the hope that the Thanagarian Hawkwoman would ever be seen again.  Suddenly, this week, out of nowhere, in the pages of The Savage Hawkman #9, the winged hero's armor started to do something it had never done before: Receiving an incoming transmission!  Who is this woman with red hair?

Batwoman 9 :: To Drown The World IV

Writers: J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman
Artist: Trevor McCarthy

Trevor McCarthy jumps on the Bat-bandwagon in the fourth chapter of "To Drown the World." Clearly, his panel style is much more similar to J.H. Williams' than his predecessor's was, and he gives each of the six main characters a distinctive page motif; however, that's just design. The artwork itself needs some refining, and despite keeping Guy Major as a colorist, the palette felt unfamiliar;  but all this is expected of a first issue. Storywise, the plot seemed to stall for all six points of view in order to focus the attention on Sune, who by now has probably gained the resentment of Maggie Sawyer's and Flamebird's fans. The puzzle continues coming together through the non-linear narrative, despite its detractors; although the final pages give off the vibe that a more sequential approach is on its way for the closing chapters of the arc.
