Justice #4 :: Hawkgirl

One by one, each member of the Legion of Doom attacks another member of the Justice League: Gorilla Grodd, Metallo, Bizarro, Sinestro, Scarecrow, Giganta, Cold... all of them surprise the heroes and catch them off guard. Toyman is after Hawkgirl at the museum.

At the Midway City Museum where Carter and Shiera Hall, co-directors, archeologists, and curators are minding their own business when suddenly a fleet of small war airplanes starts attacking them with real guns. Shiera saves her husband and takes the lead by arming him and herself with ancient weapons.

They destroy as many toy planes as they can, but realize that the museum exhibit is rigged with explosives. They are able to escape right on time and run towards another wing of the building, only to discover who their attacker is: Toyman!

In a matter of seconds, a second fleet of planes enters the room, and more rigged explosives go off... this time, the hawks are not able to escape and are trapped in the falling construction; a few feathers are the only proof that they were ever there!

I loved this sequence, it was full of action, and even though we didn't actually get to see Hawkman or Hawkgirl - only their secret identities - I enjoyed it a ton. It was strange to me how Toyman was specifically targeting Hawkgirl, and how she seemed to be the prominent character, over Hawkman; but at the same time I was really excited about it. Unfortunately, this was not a trend during the series, and she was relegated to the sidekick role instead.
