When I saw the cover of The New Avengers Annual #3 (February 2010)with Spider-Woman, Ms. Marvel, Mockingbird and Jessica Jones, I told a friend that I had to have it.
Two weeks later, he presented me with a copy of it. Now, whenever I look at it, I wish it was a Justice League of America Annual with Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna and Wonder Woman on the cover and inside they were going to the rescue of Supergirl.
Now, I see Brave and Bold #33 with Zatanna, Wonder Woman and Batgirl coming in April. I have to tell my friend about this issue.
Wonder Woman Vol. 1 #1-#329
Wonder woman Vol. 2 #1-#226
Wonder Woman Vol. 3 #1-#44
Wonder Woman #600 due in June
I am going to indulge myself and wish that this issue will have Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkgirl and Zatanna going to the rescue of Supergirl.
Gail Simone is leaving Wonder Woman and relaunching Birds of Prey.
J. Michael Straczynski is taking over Wonder Woman from #601.
Maybe he will follow up Brave and Bold #33 with another all-girl arc featuring the four female Justice Leaguers and recurring guest star from the silver age satellite era: Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkgirl, Zatanna and Supergirl.
According to J. Michael Straczynski, Brave and Bold is a playing field where he can use any character at any point in time in or out of continuity.
Therefore, seeing the trio of Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Zatanna in B & B #33 shall not be strange. Nor will a follow up trio of Batgirl, Hawkgirl and Mera or a quartet of Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkgirl and Zatanna.
Batgirl and Supergirl silver age appearances:
World's Finest Comics #169 (September 1967) entitled "The Supergirl-Batgirl Plot"
World's Finest Comics #176 (June 1968) entitled "The Superman-Batman Split"
Adventure Comics #381 (June 1969) entitled "The Supergirl Gang"
Superman Family #171 (June-July 1975) entitled "Cleopatra Queen of America"
Detective Comics #508 (November 1981) entitled "The Attack of the Annihilator"
Detective Comics #509 (December 1981) entitled "The Fires of Destruction"
Detective Comics #510 (January 1982) entitled "Bride of Destruction"
This evening my friend Haf presented me with a copy of Brave and the Bold #33 (June 2010) entitled "Ladies' Night" with Wonder Woman, Zatanna and Batgirl.
This issue brings to mind Brave and the Bold #54 (June-July 1964) entitled "The Thousand-and-One Dooms of Mr. Twister" with Kid Flash, Aqualad and Robin and The Outsiders #8 (June 1986) entitled "Ladies' Day" with Katana, Halo and Looker.
After reading "Ladies' Night" with Wonder Woman, Zatanna and Batgirl, this issue brings to mind Brave and the Bold #78 (June-July 1968) entitled "In the Coils of Copperhead" with Batman, Wonder Woman and Batgirl, Batman: The Killing Joke (1988) in which Batgirl as Barbara Gordon was crippled and Suicide Squad #23 (January 1989) entitled "Weird War Tales" in which Barbara Gordon made her first appearance as Oracle.
Batman and 4 Famous Co-Stars (Robin, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Black Canary) appear in Brave and the Bold #100 (February-March 1972) entitled "The Warrior in a Wheel-Chair" and (Green Arrow, Atom, Joker and Two-Face) in Brave and the Bold #130 (October 1976) entitled "Death at Rainbow's Find".
For a follow up to Wonder Woman, Zatanna and Batgirl, it is my wish to see the four female Justice Leaguers of the silver age... Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna and Wonder Woman as 4 Famous Co-Stars in Brave and the Bold in a journey to Gemworld to rescue recurring guest-star Supergirl from an agent of Chaos.
Apart from the 4 Famous Co-Stars of the Justice League of America... Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna and Wonder Woman going to Gemworld/Zerox/Sorcerers' World to rescue recurring guest-star Supergirl from an agent of Chaos, I wish to see the redheads of Land, Sea and Air... Batgirl, Mera and Hawkgirl in an issue of Brave and the Bold.
My friend Haf and I have an arrangement where on Friday evenings I will drop in the Genesis Club and pick up whatever he has for me.
This Friday, he had acquire for me Justice League of America: Second Coming and Wonder Woman: Warkiller.
Justice League of America #22 to #26 are reprinted.
