LP Record Carrying Case

Now, this is positively antique... so antique it was used to carry LP records.  Don't know what an LP record is?  Think of a CD, but bigger, made of vinyl, usually black, but the fancy ones would come in different colors, and many argue they sound much better than CDs.  Of course, many don't even know what a CD is anymore because music now comes out of something called iPod.

Anyway, this vintage LP Record Carrying case featured classic DC characters Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Catwoman, and The Joker.  It measured 13" x 13" x 4".  Front and back had the characters, while the sides had their logos.

This is a pretty neat case though; especially if you take into consideration that at the time there were TONS of LP records featuring DC Comics characters, whether it was actual music, or narrated adventures, these were all over, and what better place to store them?

Mera becomes a spokesperson for Cup Cakes

You have seen her selling Hostess Fruit Pies.  You have seen her modeling for Hostess Twinkies.  Now, the Queen of Atlantis is the face of Hostess Cup Cakes in an adventured simply titled "The Ice Age"

One day, a giant ice creature appeared on the ocean surface, right above the underwater Kingdom of Atlantis...

As the atlanteans start turning to ice, Mera and Aqualad wonder what could be causing this terrible disaster...

Aquaman finds the creature, who calls itself "Iceberg Head", and tries to fight it, but it is too powerful.  Queen Mera has an idea: Why not give the icy monster some yummy Hostess Cup Cakes to warm it up?  She sends Aqualad with the delicious gift.

It turns out that Iceberg Head is crazy for Hostess Cup Cakes, and his attack ends as suddenly as it started.  Mera has saved Atlantis!

Hawkgirl Mini Comic

Burger King ran a promotion back in the early 2000s (wow it's been that long?) offering Justice League toys with each kid's meal.  Each figure came accompanied with a mini-comic (and by "mini" I truly mean "mini", the comic had eight pages of story and measured 3"x4") starring the respective character.  Shayera's comic was issue number 2 of the series titled "Justice League Adventures".  She also appeared in issue number 8 where the entire team assembled.

In her solo adventure, Hawkgirl has to help some kids rescue a pair of kittens.  After crazy obstacles, trials, and tribulations, she achieves her goal, only to realize she now has to rescue another dozen more.  Just like that, she takes off with a smile in her face ready to finish the task.
